First, in case you haven't had your fill of funky banana today....you might want to be wearing diapers for this one.
Okay, so yes, I'm going to a midnight Harry party tonight with
atrojen. And
xterminal can laugh at me all he wants, but I like the books. I think, for some of us pagans, at least, it's a chance to let our hair down (sorta). It's rather hard to explain. But for one who is a real-life witch, having a set of books out there that has fired the imaginations of so many in that general direction (though the world of HP can hardly be equated with real-life paganism, there are still the surface similarities and some common vocabulary) is mind-bogglingly fun. Sure, there are other books and sets of books out there that involve magic. Perhaps some of those other books are better written. It may very well be the case that HP is "predictable" (though there have been some twists that I certainly didn't anticipate), but I can still get enjoyment out of many a predictable thing. I'll watch movies that are predictable, too, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for me, to have something where you can sorta know the outcome. To me, it's the journey that matters, and as long as I'm involved in the journey, in the characters of that journey, then it's worthwhile.
So that's my take on it.
Anyway, it seems as if this is my first real post in a couple days. I don't think I posted at all yesterday, though I read as much as I could. It's all this work, ya know. Two jobs, I'm WAY behind on some phone calls I need to make, and I'm fairly sure that, despite my intentions, I'm not actually going to get much into HP6 this weekend. There's prepping and going to a Platt graduation and errands and ..... !
*sigh*
On a somewhat more enthusiastic note, and for those of you who care, I am definitely, officially set to go to KoL Con II this September. Flight reserved, hotel reserved (have my own room to myself, kinda strange), rental car reserved. Since this is the closest thing I'm gonna get to a vacation, I so cannot WAIT. Nothing better fuck it up.
Okay, back to your regularly scheduled Cosmic tuning.

And it's happening in SCOTTSDALE!!
Three weeks before our anniversary. [pout]
(Which reminds me, I've been chacking, I can't find a bloody ticket for less than $369 a person for anniversary weekend yet...)
2101 E Apache Blvd
Tempe, AZ 85281
USA
I added some extra days around it (I assume you'd want to do more in Arizona than hang out with a bunch of nerds who play computer games where everything is done with stick figures) and checked Sept. 22-27. Needless to say these days could be changed to make it a regular week or whatever-- the Con is Sept. 24-25. (I don't remember if Turf Paradise runs in September or not. pout.) Travelocity found round-trip NONSTOP airfare AND four nights hotel (Rodeway Inn, Tempe) for a grand total of $529. That's for both of us, not apiece.
More money to spend at Tlaquepaque... :P
